Registration

Register for fall classes.  Expanded options for Two’s and a new 3 to 5-year-old program! Schedule a visit for more information!

Beginning in January we will start taking requests for enrollment information for the coming school year, a tour of our facilities or for visits to our classrooms. An open house is scheduled in February where you may tour the school spaces, meet the teachers, ask questions and pick up registration materials.

Classes are filled on a first come, first served basis and some tend to fill quickly.  Once classes are filled, wait lists are then formed.

Tours

Tours will be arranged on an individual basis. Contact the Director to set up a time to observe the school in action. Children do not generally attend class time visitations and the whole family is welcome to attend our Open House.

Open House

Open House is generally held the 2nd Sunday of February, 11:00 am-1:30 pm in the Little Pilgrim School classrooms. On this day you may tour the school spaces, meet the teachers, ask questions and pick up enrollment materials.  The classrooms will be open for children to explore.

TWO TO THREE YEAR OLD CLASSES:

ANNUAL REGISTRATION FEE (non-refundable): $140.00 per student

STAFF:  Each class has two teachers, with a maximum of 18 children in the three-to-five-year-old classes, and 14 children in the two-year-old classes. Teachers have college degrees, Washington State teaching certificates and/or equivalent practical experience in working with preschoolers and their parents. All staff have first aid/CPR training and undergo background checks.

ELIGIBILITY:  Open to all children two to five.  The child must be two by August 31st of that school year to be considered two, must be three by August 31st of that school year to be considered for the three-to-fives classes.  All children in the three-to five-year-old classes should be toilet trained. Age exceptions are permitted if space allows and the child is group compatible.

REGISTRATION begins in February for the following September. The registration fee and the first month tuition are payable at the time of registration.  The registration fee is non-refundable. Tuition is refundable until July 1st.

TUITION may be paid in one annual sum or in 10 monthly installments.  Monthly payments are due on the first day of each month.  The first payment is due and payable upon registration, the last payment is due and payable on the first day the child attends school.  Tuition may be paid in advance. A 5% discount is given if tuition is paid in full at the time of registration.

Tuition, when paid monthly, remains the same each month, regardless of holidays, illness or family vacations.

  • A late fee of $25.00 will be charged when tuition is received after the 10th day of the month.  If tuition is not received by the 20th of the month, the family will be notified and the child’s enrollment ceases at the end of the month unless all payments are received prior to that time.
  • Written notice of 30 days is required if It becomes necessary to withdraw a child during the school
  • Payments will be put into the tuition box at school or mailed to Little Pilgrim School 9140 California Ave. S.W., Seattle, WA  98136.
  • Please make checks payable to Fauntleroy Church, UCC.

CLASSES normally begin the second week in September and continue through mid-June. A two-week winter vacation, a mid-winter break and a one-week spring vacation will be observed, as will national holidays. Seattle Public Schools’ weather related closures will be followed. Emergency closure days will be made up.

PARENT ORIENTATION meeting will be held before classes begin in September for the purpose of sharing pertinent information regarding activities and curriculum.

PARENT PARTICIPATION is encouraged.  Visiting the classrooms, asking questions, volunteering to help with specific projects and outings are appreciated.  Read notices on the parent information board and read school notices that are sent home with children.

COMING AND GOING Bring child to the classroom door daily. Do walk on the sidewalks, not the grass or the plantings. The parking lot is a busy place and not appropriate for dropping off children. Arrive promptly and pick up children promptly when class is over. Call if an emergency means that you will be late for pick-up time. Tardiness in picking up a child will result in a $10.00 charge, payable to the classroom teacher, for each 15-minute delay.

A SICK CHILD needs to be kept at home!  When your child has contracted a contagious disease, inform Lorrie Cook, Director (206)714-2366. Please do not call the church office except in an emergency.

CLOTHING suitable for play and art is to be worn. Pants, outdoor gear and rubber-soled shoes will enable a child to participate fully in school activities.  Do label clothing with the child’s first and last name!

SNACKS are served daily. Please tell us if your child has food allergies. Parents of THREE TO FIVES will be asked to supply crackers, fruit juice and other healthy foods during the school year. These classes prepare their own snacks on a regular basis.  Parents of TWOS will be asked to provide simple snacks on a rotating basis. Simple birthday treats may be brought to share when arrangements are made with teachers ahead of time. We encourage healthy snacks.

REPORTS OF PROGRESS will be given in February and June.  The evaluation in February is an oral report in the form of a parent/teacher conference. A copy of the written checklist can be given to parents if asked for in a written request. A written report is made in June.  Parents are encouraged to stay in contact with teachers and classroom. Parents will be kept informed of program content through newsletters and/or notices. Read the parent information board just inside the classroom door.

FIELD TRIPS will be taken in the THREE TO FIVE year old program when they enhance classroom activities and when parents are available to provide transportation. Parents are notified of details before each trip.  TWOS do not go on field trips.

CLASS ROSTERS with name, address, phone # and email will be distributed to LPS families. Use of information is limited to school purposes only and is NOT to be used for marketing. If families do not wish to have information printed about their child, please notify the Director.

ACCIDENT AND LIABILITY INSURANCE carried by church and school provides secondary coverage for the children and staff of Little Pilgrim School.

A program of Fauntleroy Church, LITTLE PILGRIM SCHOOL has been part of the West Seattle community since 1952. The Board of Christian Education, the Little Pilgrim School Committee, along with the Director and teaching staff are responsible for the policies and program of the school.
